Following up on the topic that has been of great interest to me for the last ten years, I would like to share the experience of Bette Gebrian Magloire, RN, MPH, PhD, a Public Health Director at the Haitian Health Foundation. Bette lived in Haiti during several cholera outbreaks. She said that they did not use oral rehydration for breastfed children. They did give ORS to women, who, in Bette's words "are always in a state of mild dehydration".
In addition to that, I checked with Miriam Labbok and she said that there is no research on the use of ORS in breastfed children.
