It is so unfortunate that health care providers are still telling mothers
that breastmilk has no benefit after one year of age. Perhaps they have
forgotten that the brain of the child is still developing and breastmilk
provides the unique components necessary for optimal brain growth during
that time. This provider has no evidence for his/her statement and can be
asked to provide data to support it. I found a couple of studies that
confirm the problems mothers encounter when they continue to breastfeed
past one year.
