At every Hartmann group presentation I have ever attended (and I have attended multitudes of them starting in the 90's), this was mentioned about a small percentage of women who would not "let-down" to a pump. What I have found helpful is setting up the mental association between a pump and the baby - such as, having mom nurse on one side while the pump was utilized on the contra-side. This needs to happen multiple times for the mental connection to be made. On the pump, I will dial it until mom says the sensation feels similar and mark the pump for the appropriate setting for her. Once she has made the association, she can them pump with the pump without the baby.

Subject: Women who are unable to express milk

I'm after some more assistance. I know that some women have great difficulty in expressing milk, despite an abundant milk supply. I know that such women were involved in research carried out by the Hartmann team but I don't know if it is mentioned in any publication. Has anyone read about this in any published work??
Thanks again
