Thanks for this thread. I have also heard more negative reports vs. positives re; the freestyle pump. Complaints from moms include the diaphragm and mechanism which holds the diaphragm breaks easily and suction is not as effective as the symphony or the pump in style advanced.
Locally we have the Hygeia pump available for moms which I have had mostly favorable feedback with. It's also not as expensive as the Medela products. Most moms are offered the purely yours pump by Ameda, for the "insurance company freebie". This a great little pump for a mom who is mostly breastfeeding, so..pumping only on occasion or for part time work. Even though I have had moms report it worked wonderfully, most moms in my experience have had a decrease in supply using the Purely Yours pump if baby wasn't nursing well or for full time working moms. Many re-rent a HG pump and can rebound their supply with a better pump.
