Dear colleagues:
I am looking for some success stories to be able to share anonymously in one or more presentations and/or publications. I particularly need s tories of women who "beat the odds" by breastfeeding in spite of statistics showing that they have a lower likelihood of doing so and/or by overcoming a very difficult obstacle. So, the issues could be anything from demographics that indicate a risk of not breastfeeding to medical, psychological, developmental, disability, or any other significant issues the mother may be coping with to a legal problem impacting breastfeeding to a particularly difficult work situation to.....
I particularly need to know:
1. What characterstics placed the woman at risk of not breastfeeding and/or what difficult obstacle did she need to overcome in order to breastfeed ?
2. How did she find solutions to her challenges?
3. What role did the IBCLC/LLL Leader/Health Care Provider play to help her beat the odds?
4. Why was breastfeeding important to the woman ?
5. What exactly was the successful outcome?
The purpose is to convey in a way that only such stories can convey to always treat each mother uniquely with no assumptions that she will not or cannot breastfeed just because she is ______ or is coping with _________.
If you have a story to share, p lease email me privately at cgoodmojab at comcast dot net.
Thank you!
Cynthia
