Mom states after giving the suppository baby went “6” diapers full. It
was another 7 days and baby had not stooled. Mom said baby was fussy at
this point, and not eating well. Pediatrician had mom give another
suppository. Again another larger amount of stool. They have now been referred to a
pediatric gastroenterologist 2 hours away who has ordered a barium swallow
which was normal.
~~~ If intake is normal enough to lead to good weight gain and we would
expect regular stooling but we're not seeing it, baby might be helped by CST.
This baby is not one who cannot stool, he just stools very infrequently
unless he's stimulated to. I would think that is different ( and not
necessarily a pediatric specialty problem/emergency) than literally not being
able to stool at all. The CST might help this baby get in a more comfortable,
better stooling rhythm. Then again, I might be way off/crazy, since I
thought the baby I saw today who fell from the 85th% ile at birth, to below
10th at 4 months, needs evaluation and help, but the pediatrician says
he's fine...
Peace,
Judy, back to banging her head against the wall...
