"Do you know if the recommendation for Motrin applies to newborns? As far
as current recommendations go, this is advised for 2 months+."
~~~ Hello again,
Laura, good question. I have to assume that yes this MD suggests this for
newborns because most of the babies she sees are under 2 months, and the
sheet has no caveats. I do think it's possible that it is a generic sheet and
maybe she only circles or reinforces that suggestion with some babies and
not others, but it is at the top of the page, not buried in a footnote at
the bottom or in parentheses or something. The other thing I keep in mind is
that those MDs who are comfortable enough and skilled enough to educate
themselves and take on the evaluation and treatment of infants with posterior
tongue restrictions, are already working "off label" themselves as far as
their own colleagues are concerned, maybe they feel they have to just
suggest what they think is right and will help, despite company instructions? I
noticed now that I reread it that it says most babies do not experience
"pain or discomfort" but if they do, mom can give the Motrin or using teething
gels. This would be brief exposure at least. So there you have it.
Peace,
Judy
