I have never heard of this before, but I got a call from a lady who had been told by her doctor to stop breastfeeding her one month old because his billirubin levels were elevated.
Has anyone heard of this before? It seems to me that if a baby of this age has jaundice, it is more likely to be a liver problem than related to breastmilk in any way.
Would love to hear anyone else's experience with this. I am not quite sure what to tell this mother.
Baby was born term, over 9 lbs. Some formula initially at hospital, but only breastmilk since.
