You really need to read the articles by Joy Noel-Weiss in the Int 
Breastfeeding J.  www.internationalbreastfeedingjournal.com/content/6/1/9 
and the accompanying article on doing a study at your hospital.  In these 
articles Dr Weiss explains how the birth weight is basically inaccurate and 
a poor place to start counting the 10% from.  The weight at 24 hours is a 
better weight to use.  Fascinating reading :-)  Pat in SNJ
