Hi Linda and all -
I felt compelled to comment after seeing your aggravation about the troubles you have had registering and receiving exam results. I wasn't sure if you had contacted the office directly. Although I do not speak for IBLCE, I have recently completed two three year terms on the IBLCE board. After reading your comments on Lactnet, I took the liberty of contacting IBLCE. Here is their response:
"IBLCE apologizes for your difficulties and inconvenience. IBLCE very much appreciates that your certification is important to you as it well should be. In a relatively small set of recent letters, there was an issue with the addresses; the web codes of those affected are being voided and will not be used and new ones reissued.
IBLCE is in transition in a number of areas. IBLCE is largely moving from paper & pencil to computer-based testing with a third party vendor and undergoing some other procedural changes as well. These transitions have presented some
challenges as all transitions do. Nonetheless, your focus on improved customer service is a point well taken and this is an area on which IBLCE will be placing greater emphasis moving forward."
Personally, I know that IBLCE board and staff are working very diligently to move from paper and pencil to computer based testing. We all value our IBCLC. I take pride in the rigorousness of the preparation, testing and re-taking the exam every 10 years. After serving on the board, I respect all that have served before me and currently. I am amazed at how far the organization has come to meeting the needs of our applicants, current IBCLCs and growing for the future.
Respectfully,
Angela Love-Zaranka, BA, IBCLC, RLC
