Are these the implants that were having problems? If so, mother should
keep in close touch with the doctor and/or the manufacturer or other
agency that is handling legal or other info. Basically she should keep
herself well informed on that particular implant's issues. I would
hope that, if she chooses to keep (intact) implants in, she should be
told how to monitor for problems. Her doctor should advise her of the
need for periodic checkups or ultrasounds or scans.
If the implants are ruptured, my advice would be to have them removed.
My understanding is that, even ruptured, it has NOT been shown that
silicone gets into breastmilk, and it is safe to breastfeed.
