I worked in hospital as a non-RN IBCLC for 12 years.
As I built relationships with the RNs, to began to approach: "Hi Sue, I've got a Nurse Question..."
So as she explained that mother's medical situation, I explained the breastfeeding situation, and we learned from each other.
It helped lots of moms breastfeed when they otherwise might have been discouraged.
HTH.

=============
My name is Jeni Leaird. I have been working with moms and babies for the past 15 years. I have been reading Lactnet for a very long time but never posted.
I am a retired LLL Leader of 10 years and worked for WIC while carring for my 4 children. 2 of which "worked" with me at our local WIC office here in Tippecanoe Indiana. They spent their time in a sling while mommy helped other woman breastfeed.
I am now the IBCLC at one of our local hospitals. I hope everyone will be willing to put up with a lot of questions as we are entering the Development Phase for Baby Friendly.
Working as a non RN at a hospital sure does make me aware of how different my perspective is.
I thank all of you in advance for all your wisdom.
Jeni Leaird, BS, IBCLC, RLC
