Does anyone have experience with an exclusively breastfed infant with mild-moderate hypercalcemia (serum calcium levels between 10-11.7 for 4+ weeks now)? Was there any intervention for the hypercalcemia? If so, what? At this point one endocrinologist has recommended treating with steroids and a second has recommended low calcium formula. Neither of those recommendations is particularly appealing. There is no official diagnosis for the baby yet. Williams syndrome is unlikely but hasn't been totally ruled out. Hyperparathyroidism has been ruled out, PTH was very low.
Any IBCLC endocrinologists or experts on calcium homeostasis out there:-)
Thanks in advance,
