Paraphrasing, the conventional wisdom is that varroa causes the death of all
feral, or 'unmanaged' bee colonies. I have been looking for studies that
might show this to be correct, instead I have found only instances where
this may not be correct (Tom Seeley's forest bees for example). I also
wonder if, after a while, a new kind of 'equilibrium' might be set up as
'managed' swarms escape, replacing the 'dying' feral colonies. The survival
rate for swarms and casts never seemed statistically high even without
varroa.

Can anyone direct me to some good, informed, work on the subject?
