She is still bf, and the soreness only lasted a few weeks. However, he is
still nursing q 2.5 hr, even at night.
Judy here~~~ At only 7 weeks of age, I thought wow, he only wakes up every
2.5 hours? :)
Thank you to Ingrid for bringing up normal: Normal feeding pattern is 8-14
times per 24 ( average of 11) hours from 1 month til at least 6 months of
age. This article ( cited below) has been really helpful in normalizing
babies who feed more frequently than formula feeding babies might. Now some
babies will feed less and still be ok, and some will feed more ( up to 18 the
article stated) as they need to. Some babies, who are eating well, and
growing nicely, will sleep a nice chunk of sleep on their own, and others will
continue to wake up every 2 hours even into the second six months of life
and beyond. Taking into account the whole picture, this can be a totally
normal baby. Not the answer some moms want to hear, I admit, but if we keep
helping society understand normal, and why human infants whose job is to
develop a very complicated brain can use a regular supply of smaller, high
potency infusion of fuel for that task, hopefully it will help over time.
