There's nothing new on valproic acid and breastfeeding, but there is 
increasing concern about neurological/cognitive deficits in children 
exposed to valproic acid in utero. If his tone and behavior seem normal, 
and he is difficult to rouse, make sure his thyroid screen was normal 
(congenital hypothyroidism causes sleepiness in babies, and they may 
have large tongues as well).
