I strongly discourage the use of Lansanoh....It is very sticky and tacky and I have seen a few times of it actually causing some shearing of the nipple. I have had situations where moms were complaining of soreness and I discovered they were using Lansanoh. Once I had them stop, the soreness went away.  I do offer the Medela product (Tender Care) for those moms that want to feel a 'bit pampered'. I really dont think it makes a difference though. I tell them to use just a dab after they pump if they want. Most will use some for the first week or two and realize they really dont need it. For the most part I think as long as they are using a good pump on proper suction with fitting flanges, they shouldnt have issues of discomfort. Every so often though I will see a mom that does seem a bit sensative and I encourage her to use a small amount of olive oil on a qtip and run it around where the flange bends.
