Actually, the history of NUK nipple goes like this: it was developed after shooting an xray of a mother breastfeeding her baby. The mother's nipple was covered with barium and mother leaned over the baby to latch on with baby flat on back and xray film placed vertically next to breast and baby. No wonder it is the shape it is. Dr. Woolrich talked about this in a conference I went to in Canada many, many years ago.

Looking at the Nuk, I can only think.. my goodness.. that's the shape of a nipple when a baby is getting a shallow latch.. I almost want to cry for the NUK... oh yeah.. it doesn't feel the hurt.. The developers probably based it on the shape of the nipples after feeding tongue tied babies and thought it was the "norm".. wonder where they got their test subjects from. How bizarre.
Know a mom whose milk supply was going down.. baby wasn't suckling properly, removed the Calma from the equation and breastfeeding began to improve.
