"No, I'm saying that we have no evidence either way in term babies, and
hence that we should be looking for such evidence before rolling out the
kind of universal replacement of formula with donor milk that you were
advocating."
What I don't understand is why you won't agree to start from the premise
that human milk is the normal, mainstay food for 6 month olds (in addition
to perhaps starting solids). In any case, human milk is vastly different
than formula - even when human milk is frozen, pasteurized and/or donated
by another mother. Why would you think that something vastly different from
a 6 month old's normal, mainstay food would be comparable unless you had
evidence on your side? Just doesn't compute for me, and I can't understand
the logic.
Of course there are plenty of scenarios to give formula over donor milk,
including when donor milk is too expensive, not available and/or mom
prefers formula. But in the hypothetical situation where mom's on board and
you had donor milk and formula side by side for the taking, and you know
that the donor milk is vastly different than the formula, why would you
choose the formula?
