You and your family have done well as regards a) your grand-niece's care and b) getting a new policy in place in the PICU for banked milk to be used. I hope your account will give encouragement to other lactnetters which they face similar or related situations. Education + motivated consumers of health care = improvement.

I did educate her & staff while I was there ESP on the use of banked donor milk which we are using exclusively for my 11 mo niece in the PICU.  This hospital had no written policy for banked milk and had never used it!  

So we buy it, ship it and they hang it!  Has made a world of difference for my grandneice, Charlotte.  Her legacy- no more PIF in that PICU and donor milk offered as a viable choice for parents in the PICU
