I also had a baby who started the once a week poop (LARGE!-yellow, mush)
when he was around 7 week, until he was about 7 mo. He gained weight
rapidly. The doctor and I decided that he was using it all up without much
leftover, hence the infrequent poops. I don't know if that is
physiologically correct , but it satisfied me at the time and I've told
other moms about my experience over the years. He's now 44 and doesn't have
any bowel problems, LOL.
As long as he is growing appropriately I'd leave baby alone. Stop the
artificail stim with suppository. If baby seems uncomfortable as end of
week approaches, try a little rectal stim with finger tip.
It's only a problem to HCPs who don't know that this occassionally is what
some breastfed babies do. I know some people firmly believe a poop a day is
absolutely necessary. I don't agree for a breastfed baby.
