It looks as if our repertoire of breastfeeding support techniques could

while concentrating on the baby and boosting the supply
~~~ Hello all,
A good point. Some moms will put the dog in the cage where sleeping and
resting occurs, have someone else take the dog for a walk, or simply have it
in another room/outside. Some visits, the first ten minutes or so is mom
trying to deal with a protective or jealous dog. It is obvious, but the same
open-ended questions we use in our conversations pertain here too. "Do you
think you will be able to hear me as we talk?", or "is there somewhere your
dog/name of dog ( I always ask) might be happy for a little while that
would make this easier?" if the mom really can't focus on even getting herself
the quiet and ability to focus needed. I would hesitate to recommend a
kennel because of Kennel Cough which can lead to a sick dog that is even more
to deal with when the dog gets home. ( There is a vaccine, but it may not
have been done or it might not cover the particular agent in a particular
area.)Kennels are places of confinement, crowding, stress and abandonment,
especially for a dog that was rescued in the first place. A friend or family
member's place, might be an option, but we can't forget that many families
consider their companion animals an important part of the family too. Just
a few thoughts...
Peace,
Judy
