I think it's important to realize that in many, if not most, cases breasrfeeding
is not the real issue, but is used as a scapegoat. Unfortunately I saw a number
of situations over my nearly 40 years as a LLL Leader where a mom gave up
breastfeeding "to save our marriage" only to have the marriage break up anyway
(or still have the same problems). To me, any counsellor certified or otherwise
who advises or reinforces the idea that weaning would be a solution is not
really fully evaluating the dynamics of the couple.
