I take a holistic approach to yeast, so do not work with any of these protocols. As GV is coal tar and toxic, I have not recommended it for many years. And, as diflucan is associated with stress on the liver--I don't see how it isn't counterproductive in the long run. Personally, the one time I had thrush, I did use essential oils, but my son was three and nursing twice a day, so I wasn't worried about the effect on my milk--otherwise I would not suggest them.
I would go back to underlying causes:
Mechanical? Latch? Tongue and lip tie are notorious for causing thrush or what appears to be thrush. Wrong pump flanges?
If not, then, I use coconut oil topically, then add other topicals as needed--silver hydrosol or calendula, usually. Look at vit D, magnesium, zinc status. Diet is essential--you cannot resolve candida w/o addressing diet. And mom and baby need to be on excellent probiotics. To start.
I did ONCE send a mom to ask her OB for abx as it was clear that she had a raging bacterial infection---after which we did probiotics and dietary modification to prevent thrush. But, only once.

recommend a combo. of bactoban/mycalog. Go to www.breastfeedingonline.com,
look up yeast and his mastitis protocols.
