Thank you for posting, Laurie! I will definitely encourage her to get a culture or blood test taken to rule out a bacterial infection. There is no doubt that it is also thrush, as her child has white spots on tongue and yeast symptoms and she is battling a vaginal yeast infection as well. I hadn't pushed her too hard towards going in to the clinic as she has yet to have any fever and said she feels fine physically. Additionally there has been no redness on her breast. However, I would agree that the problem has gone on far too long to avoid medical attention any longer. Unfortunately, part of the reluctance on her part is a lack of health insurance. Thanks again for your advice.
