Hi all,

I am excited to share an Associated Press article that I assisted with.
The reporter contacted me for the names and numbers of women who had
received formula marketing bags from hospitals. I had two hours to
provide this information and by the time we reconnected I had 12 mothers
ready and willing to talk to her.

The mother she chose to focus on, Jessica Ewald, is Kathy Baker's
daughter. Some of you may remember Kathy as head of La Leche League
International's Peer Counselor Training program from its inception until
it was eliminated. Kathy died suddenly a year ago May and her passing
was a great loss to breastfeeding advocates around the world. WABA
featured a tribute to her on its website. I know Kathy would have been
very pleased to see her daughter featured in this article.

The links below go to two different newspapers that carried this AP
article, the Daily Herald, a Chicago suburban paper, and the Washington
Post. I only wish the reporter had known about the meta-analyses on the
impact of hospital formula marketing on breastfeeding exclusivity and
duration rather than posing this as a question. We already know the answer!
