I thought of sending this message only to Alicia Dermer, whose question
prompted my response and then decided, "no, this DESERVES to be on the
front page of theNY Times."
If you want all the details re: the difference between the BFHI and the US
Breastfeeding Health Initiative (similar initials but very different guts),
get a copy of the audiotape of Diony Young's talk at the recent 1995 ILCA
Conference. Her talk was on this exact topic!
To apply for Baby Friendly Certificate of Intent and to apply for
certification, get back with Minda Lazarov. She can handle both questions
and will probably have all kinds of helpful hints for assisting you with
both issues.
Her address is: Vanderbilt University School of Nursing
Godcheaux Hall
Dept. of Fmaily and Health Systems
Nashville, TN 37240
If you need her phone number or fax, write me privately. We do NOT put them
on the equivalent of the NY Times front page. :-)
Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
