Apropo of the mini-discussion last week of sex vs gender, with gender
refering to the socially constructed roles, behaviour, activities and
attributes that a particular society considers appropriate for men and women...
Well, did you know you can find out the GENDER of your baby as early as 7
weeks gestation? Yup -- saw it here myself on the internet (and if it is
on the internet, it has to be true, right?):
It is the "Pink or Blue: Early Gender Detection Pregnancy Test." Blood
test you can take at 7 weeks to find out the baby's gender.
Evidently, rather than gender being social constructs, it is now who we are
-- sex is something we do.
Just got a chuckle out of this today....good thing -- needed a chuckle
after all the IBLCE debacle.
