I have bifocal glasses but I find the reading parts at the wrong place for reading books while sitting upright. I have contacts +2.5 and +3.5 with which a have good sight from about a meter away and further and reading glasses +2 or +2,5 for everything within arms reach, including observing breastfeeding and oral exams. For oral and breast exams I tend to use a loupe with light in addition to my reading glasses.
Warmly,
Gonneke, IBCLC in PP, LC lecturer, writer in southern Netherlands

>Subject: Vision Correction
>
>I have always need distance correction and I found that after I entered my 40s my near vision was poor when wearing my glasses or contacts. I can see up close (at about 6 inches) without my glasses or contacts but not with them. If I slide my glasses down my nose, I can see well at about a 1 foot distance (the distance that I hold a baby to do an oral exam) but I cannot see clearly at this distance with my glasses at the normal resting place. I also cannot see at a 1 foot distance without my glasses due to my myopia.

>I have tried progressive lenses and found that I couldn't see the floor or counters when wearing them and I had to move my head to read with them. I am concerned that bifocals will make it difficult to see the floor also.

>I don't think that my current solution will last for very long and I need to find something else that will work. What kind of vision correction do you use and why?
