Hi Wesley,

The initiation you described seems like one with which I have been involvrd -- except that the one I was involved with was meant to be kept secret, so it can't have been the same.

Good Afternoon Jamie,
he best initiation ceremony that I ever was involved in -- as an
nitiate -- still in my teens (so the timeframe would be just before the
ronze Age).....I won't say the name of the organization -- but it
as/is a "legit" organization...... Here it is.....
ut in the woods at a "secret location"; the initiates in a circle,
urrounding a large campfire; it took place at midnight; the initiates
tanding in a circle around the campfire (providing the only light for
he ceremony); the ceremony leader has a very large, shiny knife, which
as highly polished and reflected the light of the campfire; initiates
emain silent (unable to talk for 24 hours prior and during the
eremony); 24 hour fasting the day of the ceremony; the ceremony leader
egins, one-by-one, "cutting" the outstretched palms of the initiates
ith the knife (when you get "cut" -- and only at that moment -- you
ind out that the shiny knife is very dull), while pig blood, or beef
lood was dripped, via a small blood-soaked hidden sponge, secretly
idden in the knife-holder's hand; after the hands were "cut" (it looked
eal); in fact it looked so real, that I thought I was actually going to
et my hands cut open; the initiates held hands, creating a chain of
lood-brother, intermingling their blood with each other; as your hands
ere being "cut"......other ceremony leaders whispered the translation
f "secret/magic" words, that we had heard earlier, but prior to this
oment, we didn't know their meaning....... I could go on, but you get
he idea.......
 will never forget that moment.
est Wishes for Success!

Hi all,
I run out-of-school programs for ~120 local teens at Yale's Peabody
useum of Natural History in New Haven, CT. We recruit new 9th and 10th
raders at the beginning of each academic year. This year our senior
lass will be developing an "initiation ceremony" event to welcome these
ew students to our community. We're looking for some gross/[slightly]
reepy experiences we can run them through. Given that we have vast
ollections, I'm already looking into something involving jars of ooky
hings but thought I'd run this up the ISEN flagpole to see if anyone
ut there might have done something similar. Any and all ideas welcome
  thanks in advance!
Everything best,
Jamie Alonzo
