When our son and daughter-in-law had their first baby, they kept being pushed to have the baby bathed...but mom wanted to keep on holding him. Finally our son asked "why are you pushing this so much?" The answer: "we have to wear gloves until he is bathed".
My lovely son's answer: "So, wear gloves!"
After more than 12 hours, our daughter-in-law was ready to take a shower, I stayed with her and DADDY took him the nearby nursery and bathed him under the watchful eye of the (non-gloved) nurse.
