I can think of one possibility. Breast milk is slipperier and flows faster, so I wonder if the baby might do better wtih a slower flow nipple for the breast milk. I have seen rate of flow make a huge difference, especially with a baby who has a sensitive gag reflex. If the mother wants to keep giving the baby breastmilk, she could also try mixing the two and then gradually increasing the amount of breast milk. Does the mother not want to feed the baby at the breast?
