I've been reading of this more often, both on a yahoo group and also seeing it in LLL contacts. I think you may find that this is becoming a big issue all over or maybe more prevalent in the Northern States and Canada.

There also seems to be an epidemic of gluten protein intolerance.

Perhaps this has also to do with more exposures to pesticides etc.. as well as genetically modified protein sources, including corn and soy (which are in almost everything we eat, drink and wear and wash with as well as grocery bags...) 

Ditto the vitamins which are really being promoted now that info about Vit. D deficiency is becoming well known.... These are the ingredients in Enfamil's D-Vi-Sol: (from Walgreen's website.. the enfamil site didn't have the ingredients listed anywhere... )  Glycerin , Water , Polysorbate 80 , Citric Acid , Vitamin D3 , Sodium Citrate , Sodium Hydroxide , Artificial Flavor , Artificial Caramel Color  

Another culprit could be infant Tylenol, often used for teething discomfort and which is laced with food dyes and HFCS.
