I am fighting a battle and have been for a long time now.
I work in a hospital as a IBCLC but am not a RN. The staff keep telling mothers that their babies arn't nursing long enough.
I have explained that if baby swallows milk than the baby fed for long enough. But they are convinced that frequent short feeds (sometimes just a few swallows) in the first 24 hours of birth are not enough, even if the baby is stooling.
Help. How can I present how long a feed is long enough?
