Hi Laura,
Maybe a dimple ring would hold the nipple out long enough for it to heal.
There is a picture of one in the book Lactation Forms by Shell and Marmett,
page 5/7. I imagine there is something else in Cathy Genna's book about
breastfeeding aids but unfortunately I don't have it (yet).
