I am a RN Lactation Counselor, planning to sit for IBCLC boards next year. I work in a hospital that has no other lactation person but myself. I am trying to teach myself as i go with lots of googling and reading Lactnet as often as possible. Are there any institutions or any LC's with private pratice that would allow a person like myself to visit and possibly have hands on experience and guidence from a LC? There seems to be so many restrictions from HIPPA that no one around my area allows students unless you are associated with area colleges. I live in Texas, I would be willing to travel (Austin, Houston, Dallas) if anyone would be willing to help. I just feel like book learning I can do no problem but I worry that my hands on experince needs work. any suggestions with where to start would be greatly appreciated!! Have a great day, thank you all for the knowledge that you share on Lactnet.
