Amy said,
I will also bring any research that I have. Just checking in if anyone
else has had a similar "calling to the carpet" and if there are some crucial
pieces of research that I don't want to miss.

It is so frustrating that tongue tie is still tied to a "belief" system
rather than evidence. At least in some cases. Fortunately we are seeing
fewer and fewer episodes of what you are experiencing, Amy.
However, the AAP does NOT back these practitioners. If you take them
THEIR book, "The Breastfeeding Handbook for Physicians" published jointly by
the AAP & ACOG, you will find what you need on page 109 & 110. Now, this
book was published in 2006. If it were to be updated someday (I hope), I'm
sure there would be more than this amount of information dedicated to tongue
tie.
We still don't have the "study" of 1000 babies with tongue tie, half
clipped and half not clipped, comparing the results AND published in Pediatrics
that one pediatrician told me he needed before HE would "believe" in tongue
tie, but we are getting more and more research that supports the need for
dividing the tongue tie.
Good luck, Amy.
