Well done, Judy, for being so self-organised with CERP documentation.
Is the Asia-Pacific Region the only one that helps IBCLCs in this way?
After I recertified by exam in 2009, I received an envelope from my regional
office for CERP certificates. On the front of the envelope is a similar
list to the one Judy made, and each time I acquire a certificate, I enter
the details on the front and put the certificate inside. When the time
comes to recertify, I can fill out the application form in 3 minutes, put
the envelope inside and post it off, within the cheap early-bird date.
I see people throwing away money by recertifying unnecessarily late, even if
they already have all the CERPs, just through sheer paperwork
disorganisation. And let me admit that I learnt this the HARD way first
time round, and that I would never have thought of the envelope (and running
list) idea myself.
I agree that it can cost a great deal of money to acquire CERPs, but the
networking is so worthwhile. In fact, I go to courses for the fun of it,
and the CERPs are a useful extra. People don't know, perhaps, that it's
also acceptable for IBCLCs to earn CERPs at almost no cost by teaching their
peers, and (rather like Gonneke's scheme) through regular colleague meetings
where there is an agenda and a formal discussion of a lactation topic. Peer
reviewed journal articles also earn CERPs, as do accepted exam questions.

In South Africa today, in Australia for a several-month visit from Weds.
Also hoping that the "entry-level' exam requirement for seasoned IBCLCs
falls away before 2019
