That sounds like my 4th. I simply had my sling and tied her to my body all day long and went on doing my thing. She slept with me for years and kept ''clingy while in school, up to 7th grade. Now, she just the other week graduated from college as a pedagogue, specialized in children with advanced development. She is a high sensitive person and went ahead of normal developmental norms. She introduced herself in the first year of college as: I would have been a high need baby if my mom hadn't carried me along all day for years''.
Just to say that some kids just need more without having any problems or ''conditions''.
I like to explain that children who seem to need mommy so very much as an infant and toddler may belong to the brightest ones, who just can only hardly keep up physically with what their minds are up to. And all that brain activity can sometimes be scaring to the kid herself, too! The more mom invests in attending to the child's needs, the more rewarding the eventual outcome.
Warmly,
Gonneke, IBCLC in PP. LC lecturer in southern Netherlands
