I was having a 'discussion' with a neonatologist. (I don't think that we have had many dicussions that end with us both on the same page). A comment was mentioned from the doctor that breastfed babies are suppose to gain 20 grams a day PER KILO of body weight. I correct him and said that weight gain on average is about 25 grams A DAY not per kilo. After a couple of back and worths I told him that i would print the information out for him.
Although when i went to the computer I had a hard time finding this information from a source that he would 'listen' to. I have many LC books that state it but i need to find it reference from something like AAP, WHO, CDC something like that.
If anyone has a link to a protocol or policy from a reputable organization I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
