Oh, Rachel, you gave me a much needed laugh, for I would've been there with 
 you throttling the nurse.  Why oh why is breastfeeding only seen as food,  
and in your grandchild's case it WAS food and comfort and re-connection and 
 healing.  You're so right in saying if it had been most other mothers,  
they'd hang their head sheepishly for only doing what was good and right and  
doubt their instincts.  So sad, sad indeed.

If I had been there I think I may have turned violent.  I would have  wanted
to ask 'Exactly which use of the breast is the *one* it is intended  for, in
the case of a five week old exclusively breastfed baby recovering  from open
heart surgery, please?' and I would have wanted to have a  stranglehold
around the nurse's neck when I put the question to her.   Luckily
for everyone I was far from Oslo.
