Our hospital doesn't use lanolin. We provide extra virgin olive oil for moms who are pumping. And lactation consultants 7 days a week and an outpatient service.

Subject: Nipple care during postpartum hospital stay
I was wondering what moms are taught to do for nipple care during the postpartum stay in other hospitals. We have lanolin on the unit, but since colostrum, air drying and correcting any latch problem is the best practice, I wonder why we should even purchase lanolin?
Thanks
Mary
