I heard from an administrator where I work that the state where I work
is thinking about making their own designation for the hospitals that
achieve a certain amount of set goals in breastfeeding to replace Baby
Friendly designation. She called BFHI a monopoly. I am not business
savvy enough to know about what constitutes a monopoly or whether some
such scheme would work or whether other places are trying to come up
with similar tactics. Is this what Colorado (U.S.) is doing with
their"can do 5 campaign"? Personally,I think it sounds like a good way
for hospitals to look good but still get away without purchasing
formula. Or how to have your cake and eat it too.
