I often say: treat milk that has been frozen like ground beef - refrigerate it or use it!

As for the location of the milk in the refrigerator - it all depends on your household and climate!

In my current location, in the homes that I visit, the ambient temperature in the home can be over 95 degrees (35C) - and even more - in the Summer. Refrigerators don't keep internal temperatures well, especially if you have a bunch of kids opening and shutting it all the time to get water, snacks, etc.

I have a thermometer in our refrigerator and was amazed at the variation of temperature in ours, even though it is only 2 adults in an air-conditioned home. My (cow's) milk spoils more in the Summer than in the Winter!

Yes, there is not a lot of research on this...but thinking about how your FOOD lasts/spoils in a refrigerator could give you a good idea...I tell moms to put it where the ice cream is frozen HARD and the leftovers don't spoil....
