Thanks Tricia!
I had originally been thinking vasospasm as well, but the pain has only been from touching the area and during the first part of the feed so I'm not thinking that anymore.
I've talked things through with a couple of other local LC's and I'm leaning strongly toward thinking it's a milk blister. I just got off the phone with the mom and we went over info on how to relieve the blister. I'm checking in with her tomorrow afternoon to see how things went and I'm crossing my fingers tight tonight!
