Has anyone ever used the word "homogenized" in any way, either positive or
negative, to form an encouraging explanation to moms??
~~~ Hello all,
Yes I have used the term. I've said something like "your milk is not
homogenized, because you are not a cow" ( meaning dairy farm cattle, I never
specify that but they seem to get it) to help mothers understand why pumped
milk doesn't look like the milk they may have been most familiar with, cow's
milk. I can see how this might be helpful in illustrating how our bodies are
amazing ( as are cow's when in nature, I would guess) and will deliver
what I call "full complement milk" over the course of a normal, effective
nursing. When I say "full complement milk" I am usually trying to work through
the whole "foremilk/hindmilk" issue they are concerned about.
Peace,
Judy
