I know it is out there, but I am pressed for time. Does anyone have
access to the research showing that breastfeeding is less stressful than
bottle feeding? I think it shows that breastfeeding babies can
coordiante their breathing more easily than when they are bottle fed?
Thanks so much!
Hi Jamie, Here are the two of the first studies that found
bottle-feeding to be more stressful for preterm babies than breastfeeding:
Meier, P., & Anderson, G. C.Responses of small preterm infants to
bottle- and breast-feeding. /MCN; American Journal of Maternal Child
Nursing /1987; 12(2):97-105.
Meier, P.Bottle- and breast-feeding: effects on transcutaneous oxygen
pressure and temperature in preterm infants. /Nurs Res /1988;/37/(1):36-41.
