The prep Lynn described is called GoLyteLy, it's PEG (polyethylene
glycol) with electrolytes, and it is indeed way better than its
predecessors. Mom may need to drink extra water along with the laxative
so she stays hydrated. I found it took me a day or two to restore
optimum hydration after that prep. One can also have conscious sedation
for the procedure, which uses smaller amounts of medication. Bonus - no
nausea! The drug combo I had was fentanyl and phenergan. I asked for low
doses...
