Good point about the mother needing to change her idea of mothering,
rather than the baby changing - a baby just can't do it like *snap*
and both of them will likely be miserable.
I wonder if her partner is, at this 6 wks mark, asking for more
intimacy with mother, and are there any resumption of employment
activities? All this can be quite overwhelming.
Not that I have any easy solutions, just an acknowledgement of all the
demands on mother. The couple together, along with any nearby family
willing to lend a hand, should be able to work this out. Sometimes
just a walk outside or a cup of coffee with a friend, while dad or
granny has one-on-one time with baby. A one hour break can do wonders
and she will probably really miss the baby!
