The technique matters less than the outcome - mom or dad needs to lift
or push back on the tongue sufficiently to visualize the diamond shaped
incision for three seconds 5-8 times a day until bf is comfortable. If
it becomes uncomfortable again, going back to tongue lifting for a few
days usually helps.
